American Airlines Introduces New Flagship Suite Seats

American Airlines will offer its premium customers a new travel experience with the introduction of its new Flagship Suites seats. The first aircraft to receive it will be the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A321XLR, both for transcontinental and long-haul routes.

The Flagship Suite seats will provide customers with the ultimate premium experience including a privacy door, reclining seats and more personal storage.

«We are enhancing the customer experience throughout their entire journey with American,» said American’s vice president of customer experience, Julie Rath.
«The arrival of new long-haul aircraft and the customized seating design of the Flagship Suite® seats will offer customers a truly private premium experience on our long-haul fleet,» Rath added.

American Airlines was the first U.S. carrier to introduce the Premium Economy product for long-haul flights in 2016, and in response to customer demand, the carrier is adding more seats in this class on its intercontinental aircraft. The new Premium Economy product has a customized design creates more privacy and increases the amount of seat storage space.

With the introduction of the new interiors on its intercontinental fleet, the premium seating offering on American Airlines aircraft will grow by more than 46% by 2026. Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will have a 51-seat Flagship Suite and 32-seat Premium Economy configuration, and Airbus A321XLR aircraft will feature 20 Flagship Suite and 12 Premium Economy seats.

Cabin upgrades on existing aircraft

American Airlines will also modernize the cabins of its flagship aircraft, the Boeing 777-300ER. These 20 units will receive new interiors beginning in late 2024. The aircraft will feature more premium seats than any other model in the carrier’s fleet, the Boeing 777-300ERs will have a configuration of 70 Flagship Suite and 44 Premium Economy.

The Dallas-based airline will also modernize its A321T fleet to standardize these 16 aircraft with the current A321 fleet. American will continue to offer reclining seats on its premium transcontinental routes from New York (JFK) and Boston (BOS) along with its Northeast Alliance partner, JetBlue.

All Boeing 777-300ERs, Airbus A321XLRs and part of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet will receive American Airlines’ new premium products and serve the company’s top performing major international markets. The 787-8 and some 787-9s will continue to offer the airline’s current seat offerings, these aircraft will be dedicated to serve leisure and VFR (friends and/or family visiting) markets.
