    Next November 3, American Airlines will begin nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Mexico City (MEX): this will be the fourth Mexican destination served by the company from John F. Kennedy Airport, as the airline will start another route from the Big Apple to Monterrey (MTY).

    According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Cirium platform, the Dallas-based carrier will offer 11,424 seats per week in 70 flight operations between New York and Mexico for the 2022/2022 winter season.

    Flight Itinerary

    • New York – Mexico City Flight AA 2995 JFK 19:30 – MEX 00:10+1
    • Mexico City – New York Flight AA 2996 MEX 01:15 – JFK 07:06

    The flights will be operated on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with a capacity of 172 seats in three classes (16 Business Class/24 Main Cabin Extra/132 Economy) and promotional fares start at USD 445 one way.

    According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) indicate that in 2019 between Mexico City and New York 1,037,259 passengers and 8,164.27 tons of cargo were mobilized in 7,182 air operations, it was the second busiest route from the Mexican capital only behind Los Angeles (LAX).

    With this new service, American will offer six destinations from Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX) including: Charlotte (CLT), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), Phoenix (PHX) and soon New York (JFK). The airline will offer 27,340 seats per week between the United States and Mexico City.

    • San Jose del Cabo (SJD) daily flights on Boeing 737-800s
    • Monterrey (MTY) daily flights on Airbus A319
    • Mexico City (MEX) daily flights on Boeing 737 MAX 8

    American Airlines route changes in Mexico

    Starting November 18, the airline increases from one to two daily nonstop flights between Miami (MIA) and Merida (MID), which will be operated on Airbus A319 aircraft with a capacity of 128 seats, the schedule is as follows:

    • Flight AA1720 MIA 12:05 – MID 13:22
    • Flight AA 1743 MIA 21:05 – MID 22:22
    • Flight AA 1745 MID 07:32 – MIA 10:25
    • Flight AA 1720 MID 15:02 – MIA 17:55

    From Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) one of its 7-8 daily flights will be operated in Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with a capacity of 234 seats, the schedule is as follows:

    • AA Flight 1190 DFW 13:20 – CUN 15:20 daily flights
    • Flight AA 1190 CUN 08:37 – CUN 12:17 daily flights

    The United States is Mexico’s main international market, according to data compiled by the CAIA between January – May 2022 between both countries 14,287,437 passengers were mobilized with an occupancy factor of 82.7% in 116,884 air operations, this represents an increase of 50.6% over the same period last year.

    American Airlines is the largest operator in this market with a 21.1% share and its mega hub in Dallas (DFW) is the most connected U.S. airport with the Aztec country.
