All Nippon Airways Orders 15 Embraer E190-E2 Jets
The Japanese carrier signs a fleet renewal deal with Embraer, marking the debut of the E190-E2 in Japan.
All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer have formalized a purchase agreement for 15 E190-E2 aircraft, with purchase rights for an additional five units. The deal, first announced in February 2025, introduces Embraer’s single-aisle jet to the Japanese market for the first time.
The acquisition is part of ANA’s ongoing fleet renewal strategy, aimed at replacing older aircraft with newer models that deliver greater efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
“ANA’s choice of the E190-E2 is a great source of pride for Embraer,” said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation. Meijer noted that the decision “validates the performance of our aircraft, which leads its class in fuel efficiency, emissions, and noise levels—while also delivering superior passenger comfort.”
ANA President and CEO Shinichi Inoue stated that the introduction of the E190-E2 “is a key step in our strategy to enhance our regional route network.” He added that the aircraft “will allow us to offer a better travel experience for our customers while optimizing our operations with exceptional fuel efficiency.”
Embraer E190-E2
The E190-E2 is part of Embraer’s new-generation E-Jets E2 family. It is known for fuel consumption that is up to 17.3% lower than the previous generation (E190) and is considered the quietest single-aisle jet on the market. Typically configured with 114 seats and no middle seat, the E190-E2 enhances passenger comfort on short to medium-haul routes.

Deliveries to ANA are scheduled to begin in 2027. The aircraft will be deployed on domestic and regional routes within Japan, reinforcing the airline’s national connectivity.
ANA’s current short- and medium-haul fleet includes aircraft such as the Boeing 737-800, Airbus A320neo/A321neo, and regional models like the De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q400. The addition of the E190-E2 will provide the airline with greater flexibility to match capacity with demand across a variety of routes.
