Alaska Airlines introduced inclusive uniforms and policies for its staff
The U.S. airline announced the implementation of a gender-neutral uniform plan and policies to promote an inclusive work environment for its employees.
According to the company, «in partnership with our employees, we have updated our uniform guidelines, in effect today, to provide more freedom and flexibility in individual and gender expression.»
«We are developing new gender-neutral uniforms for our front-line employees, including flight attendants, customer service agents and uniformed lounge employees, in collaboration with Seattle designer Luly Yang and with input from employees,» they added.
The changes introduced by Alaska Airlines are focused on generating trusting and comfortable spaces for its employees at work. «With these changes, nail polish, makeup, two earrings per ear and a nose piercing are options for expression available to all employees. We also updated our grooming policies to allow tattoos in more places, more hairstyle options and are adjusting the names of our uniform kits to focus on fit versus gender identifications.»
