Air Canada inaugurates flights between Toronto and Brussels

Air Canada continues to expand its transatlantic operations with the start of new nonstop service between Toronto and Brussels on August 1, 2023. The last connection between the two cities was on January 7, 2020, the route was operated by the Canadian carrier’s partner, Brussels Airlines on Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Flight AC 834 was operated by Boeing 787 registered as C – GHPV. The aircraft departed Lester Pearson International Airport (YYZ) at 19:09 local time and arrived at Brussels Airport (BRU) at 07:25 the next day, after six hours and 16 minutes.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Eurostat statistics, 320,193 passengers and 6,500 tons of cargo were moved in 2019 between Canada and Belgium. Currently, Air Canada is the leading airline operator in this segment in terms of capacity and passengers carried, it also competes with the leisure operator Air Transat.

• The service operates seasonally during the northern summer and ends on October 27, 2023.

The route is operated on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft with a capacity of 255 passengers in three classes (20 Signature Class/21 Premium Economy/214 Economy). Promotional fares are available from EUR 601 roundtrip. Brussels is the 19th European destination served by Air Canada from its main transatlantic hub in Toronto – Pearson.

This service offers connections to Air Canada’s transatlantic Joint Venture partner Brussels Airlines’ network of destinations in Europe and Africa. Similarly, passengers flying from these regions to Canada can connect to the Canadian airline’s extensive network in North America.

The new connection between Toronto and Brussels complements the existing service between the Belgian capital and Montreal, which has a daily flight schedule operated by Boeing 777-300ERs with a capacity of 450 passengers. In total, Air Canada for the peak summer season will have a capacity of almost 40,000 seats per month and 12 weekly flights between Canada and Belgium.
