    On April 3rd, an Avro RJ 100/BAe 146, a quad-jet aircraft known as a «Jumbolino», landed at Punta Arenas (PUQ) after completing a four-day flight with seven stops, to be received by Aerovías DAP.

    The 27-year-old RJ 100 with the registration M-ABOT, belonged to BAe Systems and previously operated for BRA – Braathens Regional Airlines and Malmo Aviation, based in Sweden, between 2001 and 2020.

    The flight departed on March 31st from Cranfield (QKT), United Kingdom, heading to Rabat (RBA), Morocco, and Gran Canaria (LPA), Spain, where it overnighted. The following day it continued on to Praia (RAI), Cape Verde, before crossing the Atlantic, and after 3 hours and 56 minutes it landed in Natal (NAT), Brazil.

    On April 2nd, it departed from Natal to Montevideo (MVD), Uruguay, with a stopover in Cabo Frío (CFB). On April 3rd, it departed from Carrasco International Airport to end its journey in Punta Arenas (PUQ), with a technical stopover in Comodoro Rivadavia (CRD), Argentina.

    Aerovias DAP and its «Jumbolinos»

    Aerovías DAP is a regional airline that serves communities in Chilean Patagonia and mining areas in northern Chile. It also operates flights to Antarctica during the austral summer, being an important operator between both continents.

    Its regular destinations are operated from Punta Arenas (PUQ) to Balmaceda, Porvenir, Puerto Williams and Pampa Guanaco.

    Its fleet consists of various helicopters, and within its fixed-wing park, it has Beechcraft King Air, DeHavilland Canada Twin Otter, Cessna 402, and Cessna 404. But its fleet stands out for its significant number of «Jumbolinos» with a total of eleven BAe 146 and RJ 85/100 passenger and cargo aircraft.

    The delivery of this latest RJ 100 joins the CC-DHU delivered in late December 2022 from Canada.
