Aerovías DAP Launches Special Mendoza–Santiago Flight Amid Shopping Boom by Argentine Tourists
Taking advantage of the surge in cross-border shopping by Argentine tourists in Chile, driven by the peso-dollar exchange rate, Chile-based airline Aerovías DAP has announced a special flight between Mendoza and Santiago.
Promoted under the slogan “Come to Chile! Take advantage of the shopping!”, the flight will depart from El Plumerillo Airport in Mendoza on Friday, May 30 at 11:30 a.m., arriving in Santiago just 50 minutes later. The return flight is scheduled for Sunday, June 1 at 2:00 p.m.
The round-trip fare is USD 175.48, which includes airport taxes and a 20-kilogram baggage allowance—a particularly competitive price, especially appealing for those planning to shop in Chile.
While the Mendoza–Santiago route is already well-served—with up to four daily flights by JetSMART, LATAM, and SKY—similar baggage-inclusive fares often exceed USD 250 round trip.

This special service also offers passengers a rare opportunity to fly on one of the region’s most distinctive and beloved aircraft: the BAe 146, affectionately known as the “Jumbolino” due to its four jet engines.
Only 58 of these aircraft are still flying worldwide, and Aerovías DAP operates 8 of them in its fleet.
