Aeroméxico has announced the incorporation of its third destination in Florida (and 23rd in the US) with flights between the Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and the Tampa International Airport (TPA) starting July 1, joining its existing operations to Miami (MIA) and Orlando (MCO).

Tampa International Airport highlighted that Mexico City is the largest international market without a direct connection, making the Tampa Bay link beneficial for corporate travel and the VFR (visiting friends or relatives) market. The route is expected to generate almost USD 70 million in economic impact for the Tampa Bay region.

“It’s a big day when we get to announce both a new airline and a new route that connects Tampa Bay with the largest metropolitan area in North America,” Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano said. “We’re proud to welcome Aeromexico to TPA with this nonstop service to Mexico City and we are so grateful to our Tampa Bay community partners who have stepped up to help ensure the success of this flight.”

With this link, Aeromexico will increase to eight flights per day to Florida, since it operates to Miami with four daily flights and three daily services to Orlando.
