Aerolíneas Argentinas launches humanitarian flight to repatriate citizens stranded in Israel
Operation underway to repatriate 230 Argentine citizens from Israel via Rome.
Aerolíneas Argentinas confirmed that on the morning of June 25 at 8:35 a.m., it departed a special humanitarian flight to repatriate Argentine citizens stranded in Israel following the outbreak of conflict with Iran, which led to the closure of Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport.
The aircraft, an Airbus A330-200 (registration LV-GKO), is scheduled to arrive at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport at 2:08 a.m. on Thursday, where it will pick up 230 passengers before departing at 4:00 a.m. and landing in Buenos Aires at 1:35 p.m.
The Argentine government activated a special operation in which Israeli airline El Al will transport the passengers from Tel Aviv to Rome, where they will then board the Aerolíneas Argentinas flight to continue to Buenos Aires.
The decision to reactivate the repatriation plan comes after a temporary improvement in security conditions following a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, after several days of heightened tension in the Middle East that led to the closure of Israel’s main airport and the suspension of many commercial flights.
This operation adds to previous humanitarian missions organized by the Argentine government to assist its citizens in conflict zones, including during the 2023 Gaza clashes and more recent evacuations from Ukraine and Sudan.
Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed it remains in close contact with registered Argentine citizens in Israel through its consular network and will provide logistical, medical, and legal support to those included in the return mission.
The operation aims to ensure the safe and orderly return of stranded Argentines, particularly those in vulnerable situations amid the ongoing geopolitical instability.
