Aeroitalia Founder Invests in Argentina's All-Premium Domus Airways Startup
Marc Bourgade, founder and Chairman of the European airline Aeroitalia, has joined Domus Airways S.A. as a new shareholder. The project, led by Damián Toscano, aims to develop Latin America's first 100% premium airline from Argentina.
Bourgade's incorporation aims to strengthen the project's structure, which plans to connect Argentina with destinations like Miami. Domus's proposal is based on using single-aisle aircraft in a low-density configuration, a model not previously explored in the region for these types of routes.
The plan is to operate with Airbus A220-100 aircraft configured for approximately 60 passengers in business and premium economy classes. This business model is similar to the one applied by the airline La Compagnie on its transatlantic flights (but with A321neo aircraft). If it comes to fruition, Domus would also become the first A220 operator in the region.
In this video, we show when we saw La Compagnie's 100% Business A321neo at the Paris Air Show 2019:
Damián Toscano, who was previously in charge of the Alas del Sur project (which was sold in 2018 to Indigo Partners to facilitate the arrival of JetSMART in Argentina), had reported when Domus was presented last May that the target for the start of regular operations is the year 2027. The company already has route authorization from the Argentine government:
Domestic routes:
- Buenos Aires – Córdoba
- Buenos Aires – Mendoza
- Buenos Aires – Neuquén
International routes:
- Buenos Aires – São Paulo – Florianópolis – Rio de Janeiro
- Buenos Aires – Lima – Miami
- Buenos Aires – Asunción – Miami
- Buenos Aires – Montevideo – Punta del Este
- Buenos Aires – Bogotá – Medellín – Miami
- Buenos Aires – Santiago de Chile – Miami
- Buenos Aires – Lima – Houston
