American Airlines announces flights between New York and Monterrey

Starting November 3, American Airlines will begin a new route to Mexico with an unprecedented non-stop service between New York (JFK) and Monterrey (MTY). This will be its third Mexican destination from John F. Kennedy Airport.

This new service was announced through the social networks of Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA Aeropuertos.

According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) in 2019 between Monterrey (MTY) and New York (JFK) 48,115 passengers were mobilized in 728 air operations. It was the 7th busiest route at General Mariano Escobedo International Airport.

American will be the only airline connecting Nuevo Leon with the Big Apple for the northern winter season, the airline currently offers three daily flights between Dallas (DFW) and Monterrey (MTY).

Flight Itinerary

  • Monterrey – New York Flight AA 2219 JFK 18:00 – MTY 23:10 daily flights.
  • New York – Monterrey Flight AA 2219 MTY 07:00 – JFK 12:23 flights daily.

The flights will be operated in Airbus A319 aircraft with a capacity of 128 passengers in two classes (8 Business Class/120 Economy), this new service will be available throughout the year.

Beginning in November, American will offer 10,240 seats per week on 80 flights to General Mariano Escobedo International Airport (GDL). The Dallas-based airline will be the second largest foreign operator between the United States and Nuevo Leon.

American Airlines’ schedule between New York and Mexico City

For the northern winter season, the company will offer three Mexican destinations from John F. Kennedy Airport: according to data obtained by Aviacionline, American will have an offer of 15,280 seats per week between New York (JFK) to Mexico:

  • Cancun (CUN) 10 flights per week on Boeing 737-800 NG.
  • Monterrey (MTY) daily flights on Airbus A319.
  • San Jose del Cabo (SJD) daily flights on Boeing 737-800 NG.
