Wingo Suspends Flights Between Colombia and Venezuela Following Venezuelan Government Order
Wingo has announced the temporary suspension of its flights between Colombia and Venezuela due to a directive issued by Venezuelan authorities. The decision affects routes between Bogotá–Caracas and Medellín–Caracas, and will remain in place from Tuesday, May 20 to Monday, May 26, 2025.
The airline stated that the suspension is due to factors beyond its control. Wingo is currently reaching out to affected passengers to offer alternative options, which include free date changes without penalties or fare differences—applicable to flights within 30 days of the original itinerary—and full ticket refunds, either via voucher or to the original payment method.
Wingo emphasized that it will continue to support travelers through its regular customer service channels and assured that, as scheduled, flights between the two countries are expected to resume normally on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
According to Venezuela’s Minister of the Interior, Diosdado Cabello, the measure was prompted by reports of individuals allegedly entering the country to engage in activities aimed at disrupting public order ahead of the regional and parliamentary elections scheduled for May 25.
Speaking to state broadcaster Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Cabello stated: “We have issued instructions to immediately suspend all flights arriving from Colombia to Venezuela, because the information we have points to the transport of individuals involved in these incidents.”
