What Copa Airlines passengers with unused tickets to Venezuela or neighboring countries can do
As part of the long-awaited resumption of regular flights between Panama and Venezuela following a diplomatic thaw, Copa Airlines will restart service to Caracas on May 27, as previously reported.
On that date, flight CM 4224 will depart Tocumen Airport at 14:46, landing in Caracas at 18:11. The return flight, CM 4222, will take off from the Venezuelan capital at 19:21, arriving in Panama at 20:47.
Initially, there will be one daily flight between Panama City and Caracas, with a second daily frequency added starting June 23.
At this time, there is no confirmation on when Copa Airlines will resume service to other Venezuelan destinations such as Barcelona, Barquisimeto, Maracaibo, and Valencia.
Flights between the two countries were suspended on July 29, 2024, after the Panamanian government refused to recognize the results of the Venezuelan election in which Nicolás Maduro was re-elected.
Due to the advance sale of tickets, a significant number of passengers had booked travel for dates after the suspension and were unable to use their tickets. In response, Copa Airlines has announced that passengers with tickets issued for travel between July 30, 2024, and May 22, 2025, may now rebook their flights to or from Caracas.

Additionally, many travelers had opted to fly to border cities in Colombia or to Aruba and Curaçao to reach Venezuela by land. Copa Airlines is now allowing these passengers to reissue their tickets for direct flights to or from Caracas.
This return of Copa Airlines to Venezuela reopens a vital link for the Venezuelan diaspora to major markets such as Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
All changes will be processed free of charge, the airline emphasized. Passengers can make changes through copa.com, Copa sales offices, the call center, or travel agencies. Additional contact information for Copa Airlines by country is available via the airline’s website.
