Viva and CBX partner to ease crossing between Tijuana Airport and San Diego
Viva announces strategic partnership with Cross Border Xpress (CBX), the pedestrian bridge that directly connects Tijuana International Airport with San Diego, in a move aimed at boosting bilateral tourism between Mexico and the United States.
According to the company, passengers can now purchase CBX access at the same time as their flight to Tijuana via Viva’s booking platforms.
Tijuana, where Viva maintains one of its six operational bases, plays a key role in this strategy. The airline also announced the launch of four new routes from the city to Hermosillo, La Paz, Querétaro, and Veracruz, with operations set to begin between May 21 and 22. These additions bring Viva’s total to 20 routes departing from Tijuana.

“This alliance stems from our commitment to improving connectivity within Mexico,” said Andrea Rodríguez, Viva’s Director of Sales. “At Viva, we’re always looking for ways to give our passengers more and better options to visit their favorite destinations, whether in Mexico or the U.S.”
Viva currently operates in Tijuana and Mexicali, the two major cities in Baja California, and boasts one of the youngest fleets in Latin America, with 93 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, according to company data.
Passengers can also take advantage of Doters, the airline’s loyalty program, which reportedly has over 9 million members and allows users to earn points for redeeming additional services.
The airline also highlights its “flex-YES-bility” offering, which includes 11 customizable ticket options, such as name, route, date or time changes, ticket transfers, and upgrades on fully booked flights.
