Viva Aerobus is resuming flights to three destinations in Cuba after 10 months of suspending ticket sales. This follows the island’s decision to ease restrictions to some destinations in Latin America.

During this period, Viva Aerobus was only operating in Cuba through various travel agencies within the Caribbean country and Mexico, which made it difficult for those who traveled only to visit family and friends (VFR) and for work.

Initially, the company will offer a daily flight between Mexico City (MEX) and Havana (HAV); Cancun (CUN) to Havana (HAV) with five weekly flights; Cancun to Camagüey (CMW) with two weekly flights and Cancun to Santiago de Cuba (SCU) with one weekly flight. The flights will be operated in Airbus A320neo aircraft with a capacity of 186 passengers.

Viva Aerobus will maintain charter flights throughout its alliance with various tour operators. They connect Cancun with Cayo Coco (CCC) with one weekly flight, Holguin (HOG) with two weekly flights, Santa Clara (SNU) with one weekly flight, Varadero (VRO) with one weekly flight, and from Mexico City to Varadero with two weekly flights.

» Reactivation of our flights will add significant value to Cuba’s goal of leveraging the recovery of its economy through safe and responsible tourism. Our low fares allow travelers to reduce their transportation costs and provide them with more options to take advantage of their stay on the island. Thus, they can extend their stay, travel more often, or engage in more recreational and cultural activities, all of which benefit the local economy and thousands of families that depend on tourism, » Walfred Castro, Director of Communications for Viva Aerobus, explained.
