US DOT Approves Global Crossing Airlines Group’s Fleet Expansion

Global Crossing Airlines Group, Inc. (GlobalX) has secured the approval of the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) to extend its fleet from 11 to 16 aircraft.
According to the company, this is the most extensive authorization granted by the US DOT. Currently, its fleet consists of seven Airbus A320s, two Airbus A321s, and one cargo Airbus A321, totaling ten aircraft. An Airbus A319 and a second cargo Airbus A321, registered as N412GX, will be added in the coming month.
Upcoming Additions: May and June
The second freighter, scheduled for delivery in late May, will operate from Miami to Central and South American destinations. The A319 will join the fleet in early June, registered as N285GX, having previously operated for Air Mauritius.
GlobalX’s Massive Fleet Expansion
With total operating revenues of USD 32.2 million in the first quarter of 2023, representing a 96.3% increase compared to the same period in 2022, the company has revealed the delivery schedule for its future aircraft.
GlobalX anticipates receiving two Airbus A320s and four A321s, converted from passenger to freighter aircraft by ST Engineering and 321 Precision Conversions, before the end of 2023. Based in Miami, GlobalX operates charter flights and ACMI contracts to serve markets in the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, and Latin America.
First Freighter in Service and Route Expansion
In February 2023, GlobalX launched its first freighter, an A321P2F, registered as N410GX, being the first of its model to be certified in the United States. In March, Red Way, a virtual airline, announced a deal with GlobalX Air Tours, Lincoln Airport (LNK), and Global Crossing Airlines to initiate a new service to multiple destinations.
Operations in Cuba and Agreement with Avianca Cargo
The company also operates up to 14 weekly flights to Cuba, connecting Miami with Havana, Camagüey, Holguín, and Santa Clara. This year, it is expected to commence an agreement with Avianca Cargo to operate flights from Bogotá and/or Medellín to various destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean using cargo Airbus A321s, through its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) issued in Colombia and Ecuador.
