The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) is now accepting applications for the fourth edition of the Air Cargo Sustainability Awards, which it has been organizing since 2019. The aim is to recognize companies and industry initiatives that stand out for their work towards a more sustainable sector.

Based in Miami, it is the only non-profit association representing all parts of the air cargo industry. For this event, it is sponsored by CHAMP Cargosystems, a leading provider of integrated IT solutions and transport chain optimization services.

Participation from stakeholders who demonstrate practical solutions for positive operational change is encouraged. Initiatives must be aligned with one of the eight key objectives for sustainable air cargo set out in TIACA’s Sustainability Roadmap.

    Areas and objectives

    Environment

    • Decarbonize

    Culture and leadership

    • Build and nurture partnerships

A corporate award will be given to an organization with a proven track record in the industry, while an emerging and small business award will recognize a company that is building its presence in the air cargo world. The aim, according to TIACA, is to provide financial support to help them grow.

Shortlisted candidates will have access to exclusive association events and will be able to advertise in the organization’s communications products.

«We are excited to be launching another edition of the Air Cargo Sustainability Awards» said Steven Polmans, Chairman of TIACA. «The past few years we have had a lot of strong applications submitted and we are excited to see all of the innovation and progress our industry has been making», he added.

Applications will be accepted until September 2nd. Selected finalists will present their initiatives at the next Air Cargo Forum, to be held 8-10 November 2022 in Miami.

In 2021, the award winners were United Cargo and XFret. The US airline’s cargo division won the award for the development of the Eco-Skies Alliance, an initiative that brings together corporate customers through a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) purchasing program. Toulouse-based XFret developed a container that can be placed in the empty seats of commercial aircraft cabins to optimize their capacity and fuel consumption.
