Thai Air Asia X lands for the first time in Australia

Thai Air Asia X from December expands its international network with two new services to Melbourne (MEL) and Sydney (SYD) operated from Bangkok – Suvarnabhumi (BKK). This is the first time the low-cost carrier lands in Australia.
These new services will offer convenient and affordable travel options between Australia and Thailand for business, leisure, VFR (friends and/or family visiting) and international student passengers.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development between June 2018-2019, 1,575,856 passengers were mobilized in 5,728 air operations between Australia and Thailand, it was the sixth largest Asia – Pacific market for the great Oceania nation.

Flight Itinerary
Bangkok (BKK) – Sydney (SYD)
Starts from December 2, 2022.
- Flight XJ 382 BKKK 00:10 – SYD 13:10 Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
- Flight XJ 383 SYD 14:40 – BKK 19:40 Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
Prior to the pandemic between Bangkok and Sydney 551,329 passengers and 10,223.3 tons of cargo were carried, it was the main route between Australia and Thailand.
Bangkok (BKK) – Melbourne (MEL)
- Flight XJ 390 BKKK 00:10 – MEL 13:00 Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
- Flight XJ 391 MEL 14:30 – BKK 19:20 Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Between June 2018-2019 between Bangkok and Melbourne, 423,192 passengers and 15,552.8 tons of cargo were moved.
All routes will be operated on 377-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft in two classes (12 Premium Flatbed/365 Economy) and promotional fares are available from USD 164 one-way.
Air Asia X’s sister airline subsidiary Air Asia X will resume operations between Malaysia and Australia from September with service to Sydney (SYD) and from November will start Perth (PER), Melbourne (MEL) and Auckland, New Zealand (AKL) via SYD.
