After announcing the addition of a new Airbus A330neo, Sunclass Airlines is gearing up to operate flights to popular Caribbean holiday destinations in Mexico, Jamaica, Aruba, and the Dominican Republic. Last operated in the region during the 2019/2020 winter season, when it was the former Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia.

Besides the Caribbean, the Scandinavian airline is exploring destinations in Phu Quoc (PQC) in Vietnam and Phuket (HKT) in Thailand. With the new A330neo, Sunclass aims to offer a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for its passengers, in addition to fuel efficiency compared to the Airbus A330-200s it currently owns.

«This year’s winter launch is the first in which we want to meet the demand of many of our customers who already want to soak up the sun for the coming winter. Caribbean destinations are very popular and in demand, so looking west again feels like a lot of fun» said Claes Pellvik, Ving’s Communications Manager.

In the past, other operators such as TUI Airways offered charter flights to Cancun (CUN) from Oslo (OSL), Stockholm (ARN), and Copenhagen (CPH), and the former Norwegian Long Haul operated to various destinations in Thailand such as Krabi (KBV), Phuket (HKT) and Bangkok (BKK) from the Scandinavian capitals.

For next winter Sunclass not only intends to serve long-haul destinations to the Caribbean and Southeast Asia: it also includes operations to destinations such as Gran Canaria and Tenerife. According to figures obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Statistics, 2,541,741 passengers were transported from Scandinavia to the Canary Islands in 2019.

The airline currently offers flights to Cape Verde, Madeira, and Gambia. In the future, it expects to expand its operations to more charter destinations to holiday destinations in Egypt and Fuerteventura (FUE).
