STARLUX Airlines, based in Taiwan, announced the firm order of five additional Airbus A350F cargo aircraft, doubling its initial 2024 order. This expansion aims to strengthen its operational capacity on major global cargo routes.

The A350F can carry up to 111 tons of cargo with a range of 8,700 kilometers. It is equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines and promises up to a 40% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared to older models. Additionally, according to Airbus, it incorporates advanced materials into its structure, reducing its takeoff weight by 46 tons compared to other aircraft in its class.

The model also complies with ICAO’s CO₂ emissions standards set to take effect in 2027, positioning it as a relevant option amid increasing environmental regulations in the aviation industry.

With this order, STARLUX Airlines continues to expand its Airbus fleet, which currently includes 26 aircraft: A321neo (13 in service and 6 pending delivery), A330neo (5 in service and 5 pending delivery), and A350-900 (8 in service and 2 pending delivery). According to STARLUX, the A350F will be deployed on the busiest cargo routes. The company has also ordered 8 A350-1000 aircraft.

“The cargo market is set to become a key element in our business model and will benefit from the advantages offered by Taiwan’s geographical location,” said STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai. “The A350F is the perfect choice for STARLUX, offering a similar payload-range capability as previous generation freighters, but with very significant reductions in fuel consumption and carbon emissions.”

This second order from this fast-growing airline is another endorsement of the all-new A350F as the future game-changer in heavy lift markets."
