    Perth Airport continues to regain its international connectivity to pre-pandemic levels with the arrival of new airline operators and increased seat capacity from several airlines to multiple Asia-Pacific destinations.

    Singapore Airlines to offer more seats to Western Australia

    Singapore Airlines is strengthening its operations between Changi Airport and Perth with a fourth service for the austral summer that will be available year-round. Initially, the new flight will be scheduled four flights per week and will fly daily from March 31, 2024.

    New service schedule

    • Singapore – Perth Flight SQ 213 SIN 07:40 – PER 12:55
    • Perth – Singapore Flight SQ 226 PER 14:10 – SIN 19:30

    This new service will be operated on Airbus A350-900 aircraft (regional version) with a capacity of 303 seats in two classes (40 Business Class/263 Economy). In addition, this operation will provide the Perth market with around 220,584 additional seats per year. Singapore Airlines connects Western Australia to multiple destinations in Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East through its hub at Changi Airport.

    Cathay Pacific boosts capacity to Perth

    Effective December 6, Cathay Pacific will increase capacity on the Hong Kong – Perth route with the introduction of the 368-seat Boeing 777-300ER in three classes replacing the current Airbus A350-900 operation. The Hong Kong carrier recently increased service from three to five flights per week.

    Cathay will add an additional 61,152 seats and more than 4,500 tons of cargo capacity per year between Perth and Hong Kong. In addition, the carrier connects Western Australia with Europe, North America, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and South Africa.

    New Citilink service

    On July 30, Citilink launched a new non-stop connection between Perth and Jakarta, which complements the airline’s daily operation from Bali. The company’s services between Indonesia and Western Australia bring 190,000 seats a year to the market, offering increased opportunities for passengers traveling for leisure, business or study.

    Citilink Indonesia CEO Dewa Rai, said: «These new international routes are quite promising, considering that tourists from Australia are one of the most tourists visited Indonesia in 2022.»

    «The opening of these new international routes is expected to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, so that they can increase the potential for cooperation in various sectors, such as cultural, economic, political, social and so many others,» Dewa added.

    Citilink’s new route between Jakarta and Perth operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays on an A320, arriving in Perth at 12:10am. While the Perth – Jakarta service will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, departing Perth at 01:30 am.
