SAS Adds Six New Winter Routes from Copenhagen and Increases Overall Capacity by 40%
SAS will launch six new destinations from its Copenhagen hub for the 2025/2026 winter season. The new routes will include flights to Vienna (Austria), Tel Aviv (Israel), Marrakech (Morocco), Madeira (Portugal), Fuerteventura (Spain), and Kittilä (Finland).
According to the airline, the winter schedule will also feature increased frequencies on existing routes, resulting in a 40% boost in total seat capacity compared to the previous winter.
SAS confirmed that it will maintain 22 summer routes during the winter season, further enhancing year-round connectivity to and from Scandinavia and solidifying Copenhagen’s role as a strategic hub in Northern Europe. Overall connectivity will grow by 75% compared to last winter, the airline stated.
"It’s exciting to introduce these new destinations for the winter season, offering our customers more opportunities to explore and enjoy unique experiences," said Henrik Winell, Vice President of Network at SAS. "With an expanded network and increased capacity, connectivity across Scandinavia will be significantly enhanced," he added.
New routes from Copenhagen will include daily flights to Vienna, three weekly flights to Tel Aviv, two to Marrakech, and weekly services to Madeira and Fuerteventura. Kittilä will see two weekly flights between January and March.
Among the summer routes being extended into the winter are long-haul connections to Toronto (Canada) and Seoul (South Korea). SAS highlights that it will be the only airline offering direct flights between Scandinavia and Canada during winter, with four weekly departures.
In Europe, routes to cities such as Madrid, Bilbao, Lisbon, Venice, Budapest, Seville, Lyon, and Beirut will also remain operational. Winell emphasized that "whether flying between Copenhagen and these European cities or connecting to Northern Europe and beyond, SAS offers convenient schedules and a wide range of options designed to make travel as smooth and flexible as possible."
