Ryanair Leases Largest Hangar at Madrid-Barajas Airport

Aena has formalized a leasing agreement with Ryanair, through FR Hangars, for a hangar at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. The contract, which will extend for 15 years, contemplates the use of the space for maintenance and painting of aircraft.

The hangar, previously used by Iberia, will involve an investment of 8 million euros by Ryanair during the first three years. The space, located in the north industrial area of Terminal T123, has a total surface area of 22,606 m². Of this total, more than 16,300 m² will be dedicated to housing aircraft, and the remaining 6,200 m² will be divided between warehouses and offices, in addition to a paved support area of about 8,000 m².

According to information from Aena, Ryanair has increased by 27% the minimum space initially tendered for its operations in Madrid-Barajas, representing a significant increase in its presence at the airport.

This agreement is part of the development plans for the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport City, a project that seeks to expand the airport’s capabilities. With a planned buildable area of 2.1 million m², the Airport City will include various activities such as logistics, business process outsourcing (BPO), and aviation services, as well as offices, hotels, and services for passengers and users.

Aena has pointed out that the Airport City project aims for environmental, social, and economic sustainability, and seeks to ensure harmonious integration with the environment.

This new leasing contract with Ryanair strengthens the infrastructure and operational capacity of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, highlighting its role as one of the main airport hubs in Spain.
