    The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and Lima Airport Partners (LAP) announced the rescheduling of the start date for operations at the new terminal of Jorge Chávez International Airport. Initially planned for January, the reopening of activities in the new facilities will now be on March 30, 2025.

    According to the authorities, this decision aims to ensure safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with the highest international standards of civil aviation. It also allows for final adjustments that will benefit passengers, airlines, and operators alike.

    The new terminal is the centerpiece of an ambitious modernization effort that will transform Jorge Chávez into a world-class regional hub. This project, representing an investment of approximately 1.5 billion dollars, includes several key developments that have already begun operations:

    Second runway:

    Operational since April 2023, this infrastructure enables simultaneous operations, reducing congestion and improving flight punctuality.

    New control tower:

    Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, this tower optimizes the management of the airport's growing air traffic, ensuring greater safety and efficiency.

    Capacity of the new terminal:

    Designed to handle up to 30 million passengers annually, the building will feature: 

    • Expanded waiting areas.
    • Modern security and baggage systems.
    • Commercial spaces and lounges meeting international standards.

    Sustainability:

    The project includes eco-friendly measures, such as solar panels and water conservation systems, aligning with environmental certifications like LEED.
