Peru to Modernize Air Traffic Management with Thales' TopSky-AMHS System
The Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation (CORPAC) awarded Thales and its local partner in Peru, Stinville, a contract to modernize its air traffic communications system. The implementation of the TopSky - AMHS system will optimize the processing of aeronautical messages across more than 35 sites throughout the country.
This advancement in Peru's aeronautical infrastructure aims to improve communication between air traffic control centers, airports, and international Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs). According to a statement from Thales, the adoption of this technology aligns Peru with the highest international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The contract includes the implementation of the advanced Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS), along with a backup solution. This dual setup is designed to provide the highest level of safety, efficiency, and operational continuity in the country's aeronautical communications management.
The TopSky-AMHS system will be integrated into one of the main communication hubs in the Americas, ensuring connectivity between South American countries, the United States, Spain, and Central America. The solution has already been adopted in numerous countries, proving its reliability and performance.
Impact on Peruvian Aviation
The implementation of this technology will strengthen the entire Peruvian air system by improving response times and coordination capabilities among various sector stakeholders. These include the Peruvian Air Force (FAP), the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), the Navy, airline operators, airport authorities, and meteorological services.
"We are honored to play a leading role in this important project for CORPAC. Partnering with Thales, we will bring our local expertise and dedication to ensure the successful deployment of the TopSky – AMHS system," commented Ivan Ortega, CEO of Stinville.
Youzec Kurp, Vice-President of Airspace Mobility Solutions at Thales, highlighted that the contract “demonstrates Thales's commitment to advancing air traffic management in Latin America. We are pleased to work with CORPAC and Stinville on this major project.”
