Oppan Gangnam style: Alaska Airlines Replaces Airbus A330 with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on Seattle–Seoul Route
Starting September 12, 2025, the airline will offer five weekly flights with upgraded onboard experience.
Alaska Airlines is upgrading its transpacific route from Seattle to Seoul Incheon by replacing the Airbus A330-200 with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, beginning September 12, 2025, with five weekly frequencies. For now, the connection to Tokyo-Narita will continue operating with the A330.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner delivers a premium travel experience: it features 34 suites with sliding doors in a 1-2-1 layout, all with direct aisle access and high-end finishes. In the Economy cabin, there are 266 seats, including 79 with extra legroom. Every seat is equipped with multiple charging ports, and passengers can enjoy free onboard entertainment.
Flight HA 871 will depart Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) at 2:50 p.m. and arrive in Seoul-Incheon (ICN) at 6:35 p.m. the next day. The return flight, HA 872, will leave Seoul at 8:35 p.m. and land in Seattle at 2:45 p.m..
The deployment of the Dreamliner on this route strengthens Alaska Airlines' offering as it competes with Delta Air Lines, which operates Delta One Suites on the Airbus A350; Korean Air, featuring an upgraded Business Class with sliding doors on its Boeing 787-10; and Asiana Airlines, which maintains a more standard product on its Boeing 777-200ERs.
