Emirates SkyCargo and United Cargo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that follows a new broader commercial agreement between the air cargo divisions of two of the world’s largest airlines. The new partnership aims to offer additional benefits to customers of both companies, Emirates said in a press release.

Nabil Sultan, Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, and Jan Krems, President of United Cargo, signed the document at the World Cargo Symposium (WCS), an event organised by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in London, United Kingdom.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will work closely on a number of issues. These will include expanding interline options and blocked space agreements, pending regulatory approvals.

    Greater global reach

According to the companies, future cooperation will build on existing interline agreements between the two carriers to offer their customers a combined global network with greater reach.

As a result of the new partnership, United Cargo will have access to Emirates SkyCargo’s high-frequency distribution network to more than a hundred destinations, both through freighter aircraft and belly cargo operations. In turn, the Emirati carrier will have access to more than two hundred destinations in the United States served by United Cargo.

«Emirates SkyCargo is committed to being the leading player in the global air cargo industry providing our customers with the highest standards of products and services», said Nabil Sultan. «Cooperating with United, who is a leading airline in its own right with strengths and a network that are complementary to our own, will allow us to add value for our customers and help them reach new markets more speedily», he assured.

«United is pleased to work with Emirates SkyCargo on this Memorandum of Understanding», said Jan Krems. «We share a common commitment to providing industry-leading solutions for our customers», he added.
