Mexico: Aerolíneas Ejecutivas strengthens its fleet with order for up to twelve Cessna Citation jets
Textron Aviation has finalized a purchase agreement with Aerolíneas Ejecutivas (ALE), a Mexico-based business aviation company, for up to twelve Cessna Citation business jets. The aircraft—a mix of Citation Latitude, Citation CJ3 Gen2, and the newly introduced Citation M2 Gen2 models—will be integrated into MexJet, ALE’s fractional ownership division. The first four aircraft, including two Citation Latitude and two Citation CJ3 Gen2 jets, are expected to be delivered in 2026.
Marcelo Moreira, Textron Aviation’s Vice President of Sales for Latin America, stated that “Cessna Citation business jets are ideal for fractional ownership customers seeking best-in-class comfort and performance.” He added his appreciation for clients like ALE “who recognize the advantages of flying a diverse fleet of Citation aircraft. The operational efficiency of Citation jets, combined with Textron Aviation’s expansive service and support network, ensures ongoing productivity and enjoyment throughout the ownership experience.”
Aerolíneas Ejecutivas currently operates Citation Latitude and Citation CJ3+ aircraft, and its Jetcard program, MexJet, was the first prepaid flight hour program launched in Mexico.
Arturo Ortega, President of ALE, emphasized that “we will continue prioritizing the safety of all our clients.” He added that the company’s commitment “is reflected in our actions. We continue to grow, invest, and deliver unparalleled service.”
Key Features of the New Models
The Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen2 and M2 Gen2 introduce technological and design upgrades aimed at enhancing the flying experience for both pilots and passengers.
The CJ3 Gen2 features a redesigned cockpit with 4.5 inches of additional legroom for pilots and Garmin G3000 avionics, including autothrottle technology for reduced workload and enhanced situational awareness. For passengers, the spacious cabin is customizable and includes swivel seating, RGB ambient lighting, USB-C ports at every seat, wireless charging, and executive tables. The lavatory is equipped with CoolView skylights for natural light and the option for a modern sink, with exterior-access maintenance. The CJ3 Gen2 typically seats nine and boasts a maximum range of 2,040 nautical miles (3,778 km) and a payload capacity of 2,508 kg (5,530 lb).
The Citation M2 Gen2, while not detailed in this specific order but mentioned as part of Textron’s recent offerings, represents the next generation of entry-level light jets. This model focuses on efficiency and advanced avionics, with improved cabin comfort, expanded storage, and enhanced connectivity options.
Some Citation models, such as the CJ3 Gen3, are equipped with Garmin Emergency Autoland technology— an advanced safety feature capable of autonomously landing the aircraft in case of pilot incapacitation, though it is not confirmed for the CJ3 Gen2 in this specific deal.
