    Lufthansa is widening its U.S. network with the start of non-stop flights between Frankfurt and Raleigh-Durham, the company’s second service to North Carolina, after Charlotte.

    On June 6, flight LH409 was operated on an Airbus A330 registered D-AIKS, which took off from Frankfurt Airport at 10:44 local time and landed at Raleigh-Durham Airport at 13:30, after eight hours and 46 minutes.

    Lufthansa is the fourth airline to offer transatlantic services at Raleigh-Durham Airport, complementing American Airlines‘ operation to London-Heathrow, Air France to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Icelandair to Reykjavik.

    This summer, the company has expanded its schedule to the United States by starting new routes such as Seattle-Munich and Frankfurt-Minneapolis and introducing the Airbus A380 on the Munich-Washington route. For the winter season, the new cabin product will be introduced on the Munich-San Francisco route and the superjumbo will fly from the Bavarian capital to Los Angeles.

    Flight schedule

    • Frankfurt – Raleigh Flight LH 408 FRA 10:20 – RDU 13:50 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
    • Raleigh – Frankfurt Flight LH 409 RDU 15:40 – FRA 06:05+1 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

    Flights are operated on Airbus A330-300 aircraft with 255 seats in three classes: 42 Business Class, 28 Premium Economy and 185 Economy,

    Lufthansa’s U.S. network also serves New York JFK, Newark, Chicago O’Hare, Boston, Washington-Dulles, Atlanta, Miami, Detroit, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston-Intercontinental, Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle-Tacoma, St. Louis, Charlotte, San Diego and Minneapolis.
