«Today, our first dreamliner took off for Newark. It is the first long-haul destination for our first Lufthansa 787. Over the past few weeks, the D-ABPA and its crews flew between Frankfurt and Munich to gain the necessary experience, test our processes, and obtain the mandatory takeoffs and landings. It is always a pleasure and a special moment to send a new aircraft on its first long-haul flight with passengers,» said Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa.

Lufthansa will offer 4,116 seats per week on the Frankfurt (FRA) – Newark (EWR) route operated on Boeing 787-9s during the winter. The airline is scheduled to operate this service on Dreamliner until March 25, 2023 according to the Cirium platform.
