LOT Polish Airlines and Lufthansa Technik strengthened their partnership in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, with a new agreement that includes support for the LEAP-1B engines powering LOT's Boeing 737 MAX fleet.

As part of this cooperation, the first engine under this contract was received at XEOS, the joint facility of Lufthansa Technik and GE Aerospace near Wrocław, Poland. This marks the first LEAP engine service performed at this plant. Simultaneously, a second LEAP engine was sent to Lufthansa Technik's engine shop in Hamburg, Germany.

"Following the positive experience with Lufthansa Technik's services for our previous-generation CFM engines, we trust that their renowned expertise is the best choice for our next-generation engines, some of which will even be serviced here in Poland," stated Maciej Maciejewicz, Head of Engines at LOT Polish Airlines.

David Sturz, Corporate Sales Executive at Lufthansa Technik, said, "We are proud of our capabilities with LEAP engines, and even more so to have earned the trust of a renowned airline like LOT for this type of engine. With the recent certification of XEOS for LEAP engines, this center ideally complements our Hamburg shop, supporting our growth in this key segment."

Over the past year, Lufthansa Technik has carried out various MRO services for LOT Polish Airlines. After the signing of a framework agreement in February, Lufthansa Technik Malta completed a C-check on a LOT Boeing 787 in April. Subsequently, in May, both companies signed a contract for the maintenance of CFM56-7B engines, used on the airline's Boeing 737NG fleet, with these services currently performed in Hamburg. These agreements are now complemented by the LEAP engine services in Wrocław and Hamburg.
