Live match, free jerseys and a star on board: this is how the Barcelona–Real Madrid game was experienced on an Iberia flight
Passengers on Iberia flight IB307, which connects Madrid with Mexico City, were able to watch the FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid match live this Sunday, part of LALIGA EA SPORTS, thanks to the airline’s free WiFi service.
This is the second time Iberia has broadcast a live sports event onboard. According to the airline, the first occasion was the final of the 2023 UEFA Women’s Euro, featuring Spain and England.
This time, in addition to the live match broadcast, the flight included other surprises related to Spanish football. Passengers found official jerseys of LALIGA clubs on their seats, as part of a joint campaign with the league’s organizers.
Also onboard was former footballer Juan Pablo Sorín, who played for clubs such as FC Barcelona and Villarreal CF, and addressed passengers at the start of the broadcast.
According to Iberia, the service was offered on one of its Airbus A350 aircraft. The airline currently operates three daily flights between Madrid and Mexico City, providing an annual capacity of over 770,000 seats on this route and enabling the transit of more than 2,000 people per day between both destinations.
