Korean Air celebrated 30 years of operations at Atlanta International Airport: the airline hosted a commemorative dinner marking its long-standing presence in Georgia. The South Korean company operates a daily flight using Boeing 747-8i aircraft.

Hartsfield-Jackson is not the airline’s first destination, as it has been flying to the U.S. for 52 years: its first flight was between Seoul (GMP) and Los Angeles (LAX), operated with its Boeing 707. Atlanta is one of eleven destinations that Korean Air currently connects to Incheon International Airport in Seoul.

To celebrate 30 years of service, Korean Air gifted a round-trip ticket to the 30th registered passenger. Additionally, all passengers received a token of appreciation, including a tote bag and a jar of honey from the Savannah region in Georgia.

Korean Air held a tribute dinner for this route on December 9 in downtown Atlanta. The event was attended by representatives from the Korean Consulate, industry partners, key travel agencies, and representatives from Korean Air, among others.

The route from Korean Air between Seoul and Atlanta was inaugurated on December 12, 1994, with three weekly flights departing from Gimpo Airport (GMP) and stopping in Chicago. Currently, it operates a daily flight using a Boeing 747-8i with a capacity for 368 passengers, 6 suites, 48 seats in the Prestige cabin, and 314 in economy.

Korean Air’s Senior Vice President and Regional Director for the Americas, Jin Ho Lee, stated in an official release that “on this special occasion, we sincerely thank our customers for their continued support over the past 30 years and for choosing Korean Air as their preferred travel partner. We remain committed to strengthening ties between Korea and Atlanta and providing excellent service in the years to come.”
