Jetstar Airways will increase capacity from Melbourne Airport in 2024, increasing its services to New Zealand and South East Asia, adding a total of 100,000 new seats at affordable fares.

From 1 April 2024, it will increase services to New Zealand by operating Airbus A320s with a capacity of 180 passengers:

    • Auckland increases from 8 to 13 weekly flights.
    • Christchurch increases from 3 to 5 flights per week.

From 17 June 2024, increase services to South East Asia operating Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner:

    • Singapore increases six weekly flights to daily flights.
    • Bangkok increases from 3 to 5 weekly flights.
    • Phuket increases from 3 to 5 weekly flights.

The increase in these services will be complemented by the new Melbourne-Fiji route launched in December last year, which will provide up to 72,000 seats per year. In 2023, the low-cost airline regained 100% of its pre-pandemic domestic and international capacity in Melbourne.

«The city is also incredibly popular with international tourists as a cultural capital for sport, art, food and world-renowned coffee. More than 100,000 new low-fare seats will give customers more choice over where and when they fly, allowing them to embark on more international adventures,» said Stephanie Tully, chief executive of Jetstar Group.
