    Jet2 chooses LEAP-1A engines for future A320neo and A321neo

Jet2 has selected CFM International’s LEAP-1A engines to equip their upcoming Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft. The agreement also includes a long-term service contract. Deliveries are expected to commence from 2028.

So far, the company has chosen this engine type for a total of 98 firm orders still pending delivery, as well as 48 additional purchase options.

In 2022, Jet2 placed an initial order for LEAP-1A engines to power a fleet of up to 75 Airbus A321neo. The first airplane began regular operations last May.

«We are delighted to further develop our twenty-year partnership with CFM, which has supported our continuous success and growth since the beginning», stated Philip Meeson, CEO of Jet2.

Furthermore, Meeson highlighted the overall efficiency of the product and its lower fuel consumption compared to others in the segment: «It will help make our operations more sustainable and provide the best customer experience», he added.

«Jet2’s renewed trust in our products and teams is a real honor that commits us to keep providing them with the best CFM standards in terms of utilization and support», said Gaël Meheust, President and CEO of CFM International. «We share with Jet2 the same ambition to invest in technologies which will make air transport even more sustainable in the coming years», he added.

Avolon orders LEAP-1B engines for new 737 MAX order

On the other hand, Avolon has ordered 80 CFM International LEAP-1B engines for its recent order of 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, also finalized during the Paris Air Show. Deliveries of these aircraft are expected to take place between 2027 and 2030.

«This commitment reinforces Avolon’s effort to increase the proportion of new-technology, fuel-efficient aircraft in our fleet, supported by the 737 MAX’s use of the latest LEAP-1B engines», stated Andy Cronin, CEO of Avolon.
