The Il-114-300 regional turboprop aircraft is in the final stage of its certification tests. Currently, the aircraft is conducting flights at Gorno-Altaisk Airport, located in the Altai Republic, to evaluate its performance in mountainous terrain conditions.

The program is overseen by PJSC Ilyushin, a subsidiary of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), which is part of the Rostec state corporation. According to the Rostec state corporation, the choice of this region allows for the evaluation of the maximum number of flight modes and navigation systems required for certification.

As part of this testing phase, one of the experimental Il-114-300 prototypes also completed a series of international flights. These included an intermediate landing at the Krayniy airfield in the city of Baikonur.

Daniil Brenerman, General Director of PJSC Ilyushin, explained that the aircraft is in the final phase of testing. "Currently, we are testing navigation modes, primarily those related to flights in mountainous terrain, evaluating the aircraft on international routes and its operational capability at off-base and transit airfields," stated Brenerman.

The director added that the tests are progressing successfully and thanked the government of the Altai Republic, Gorno-Altaisk Airport, and the Roscosmos state corporation for their logistical support. Andrey Metzler, General Director of the airport, described participating in such a "state project" as a "great honor."

    A 100% Russian aircraft

The Il-114-300 is notable for being composed entirely of domestically produced Russian components. Most of its systems, including the new digital flight and navigation system, were developed and manufactured by Rostec enterprises. The aircraft also features an increased use of composite materials in its airframe.

The powerplant consists of two TV7-117ST-01 engines, manufactured by the United Engine Corporation. Additionally, the aircraft is equipped with a new auxiliary power unit (APU), model TA 14-114, which ensures its autonomous operation on the ground without external equipment.

With a maximum capacity of 66 passengers, the Il-114-300 is designed to replace the veteran An-24 and other foreign-made regional aircraft on Russian local routes. The aircraft is prepared for autonomous operations at airfields with limited infrastructure and for use in the demanding conditions of the Arctic regions.
