Icelandair will maintain its flights between Alicante and Reykjavik throughout the year
A few days before its inaugural flight between Reykjavik and Alicante, scheduled for February 10, Icelandair announced that it will maintain the route throughout the year, in what they have defined as a continued commitment to the Spanish market, a market where they will also have a presence in Madrid and Tenerife Sur.
Dependent on the season, Icelandair will operate up to two flights a week between the Icelandic capital and Alicante, on Mondays and Thursdays, which will be operated on Boeing 757-200 aircraft, which feature seats with individual entertainment screens and USB ports.
«We are seeing signs of recovery in the travel industry, so we are very pleased to be able to add these three routes to our network,» said Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair.
«With the addition of Rome, Nice, and Alicante for the summer, Icelandair aims to offer European and North Atlantic customers more flight options and better connections,» he added.
While the company has been able to exploit the existing market niche of connections between Europe and North America via Reykjavik at very competitive prices, it also offers the possibility of a multi-day stopover in Iceland with no change in the fare.
