Icelandair will fly between Barcelona and Reykjavík all year round

Icelandair has announced its flight schedule for the 2023-2024 winter season, which will come into effect from October this year, and will include 36 destinations, with a capacity increase of between 20% and 25% compared to the previous season.

The main news for the Spanish market is that Barcelona will now be a year-round destination, facilitating connections with Icelandair’s North American network through its hub in the Icelandic capital.

The route between Barcelona (BCN) and Reykjavik (KEF) will begin operating from April 1st with three weekly flights on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with a capacity of 160 passengers.

Baltimore, Rome, Raleigh Durham, and Vancouver will also become year-round destinations in response to high demand and what Icelandair defined as «solid commercial performance».

Flights to Tenerife

Icelandair has also announced an increase in frequency of its flights between Tenerife-South and Reykjavik, where it will now operate between 4 and 6 weekly flights, connecting the city with destinations such as Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Toronto, Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis, Portland and Vancouver.

Icelandair in Spain

With these changes, Icelandair’s flight offering in Spain will be as follows:

• Alicante: two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
• Barcelona: three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
• Tenerife-South: three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
• Madrid: two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
• Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (LPA): one weekly flight on Tuesdays.

Stopover in Iceland

To promote inbound tourism, Icelandair continues its stopover program, which allows passengers connecting at Keflavik Airport when flying between Europe and North America to schedule a stay in Iceland for a few days without any additional charge on the original airfare for the full flight.
