According to the airline, this designation is aimed at strengthening its expansion strategy in Latin America and the Caribbean, a region where IAG Group maintains a strong presence. Silva Font will report to Marina Colunga, Iberia and British Airways' Commercial Director for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Silva Font brings 20 years of experience in the aviation and tourism sectors, having held positions at CVC, Almundo, and Aerolíneas Argentinas, specializing in sales, revenue management, and network planning.

"It is a true honor to lead Iberia’s operations in Argentina and Uruguay at this moment, especially as we prepare for a record-breaking 2025, connecting Buenos Aires with Europe and the rest of the world," said Silva Font.

"In 2024, we set an all-time capacity record between Montevideo and Spain, and we will maintain it in 2025. Strengthening our commitment to these two routes will be one of my top priorities, along with ensuring Iberia remains the preferred airline for travelers flying to Europe," she added.

    Iberia’s Expansion in Latin America

In October 2023, Iberia increased its Buenos Aires–Madrid route to three daily flights, offering over 2,000 seats per day. According to the airline, 19 of these 21 weekly frequencies are operated with the Airbus A350, the largest and most fuel-efficient aircraft in its fleet.

For Montevideo, Iberia currently operates one daily flight to Madrid, a capacity level that the airline confirms will be maintained in 2025.

Growing Demand for Iberia’s Stopover Program in Argentina

Iberia reports that Argentina is the third-largest market for its Stopover Hola Madrid program, following Brazil and Mexico. This initiative allows passengers to stay in Madrid for up to nine nights at no extra cost, with exclusive benefits on accommodation and transportation.

Buenos Aires to Host Espacio Iberia

As part of its strategic push in Argentina, Iberia will open an Espacio Iberia in Buenos Aires by the end of March. The airline revealed that the event will be held in a 1,000-square-meter venue on Florida Street, offering activities such as:

    • Tastings of Iberia’s onboard cuisine
    • Live cooking demonstrations (showcookings)
    • Wine tastings

Additionally, visitors will have the chance to try on historical Iberia uniforms and experience a flight simulator.
