    Turpial Airlines plans to expand its operations to Colombia with the opening of a route between Valencia (VLN) and Bogotá (BOG), according to Alejandro Dugarte Carmona, Commercial Director of the airline.

    Dugarte commented that in the period November – December 2022 the company mobilized more than 3,800 passengers between Venezuela and Colombia in eighteen air operations. The company is also interested in adding a second destination to the neighboring country with a non-stop service to Medellín (MDE) for the first quarter of this year, which will be operated first from Caracas (CCS) and then from Valencia (VLN).

    Turpial Airlines plans to increase its operations between the Venezuelan capital and Bogota (BOG) from three weekly flights to operate daily and to acquire a fourth aircraft to expand its operations from its hub at Arturo Michelena International Airport (VLN).

    According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Colombian Civil Aeronautics statistics, 8,942 passengers were mobilized in 2019 between Bogota (BOG) and Valencia (VLN). The last company operating in this segment was Avior Airlines in March 2020, which lifted this route due to pandemic.

    Flight Itinerary

    • Caracas – Bogota Flight VTU 8820 CCS 17:00 – BOG 17:30 Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
    • Bogota – Caracas Flight VTU 8821 BOG 19:30 – CCS 22:00 Monday, Thursday and Sunday.

    The route will be operated in Boeing 737-400 aircraft with a capacity of 144 passengers and promotional fares are available from USD 370 round trip.

    Turpial Airlines currently offers regular and charter international services from Venezuela to the Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Cuba and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and expects to launch new destinations in Argentina and Chile this year.
