Flexjet Places Historic Order for 300 Otto Aerospace Phantom 3500 Jets
Flexjet became the launch customer for Otto Aerospace's Phantom 3500 business jet with a historic order for 300 aircraft. The deal, which includes additional options, represents one of the largest purchases from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in business aviation history.
The Phantom 3500 is a clean-sheet design that utilizes laminar-flow aerodynamics and an all-carbon-fiber composite construction to reduce fuel burn by over 60% compared to aircraft in its category. This focus on efficiency and sustainability is a key element of the aircraft's design, which aims to redefine industry standards.
According to the established timeline, the first flight of the Phantom 3500 is scheduled for 2027, with deliveries to Flexjet set to begin in 2030. The company, a global leader in fractional ownership and aircraft leasing, plans to integrate these new jets to offer its clients a more sustainable long-range travel experience without compromising the luxury and personalized service that define its brand.
Paul Touw, CEO of Otto Aerospace, commented that Flexjet's decision "marks a turning point in the industry’s move toward sustainable and efficient air travel." He added that the Phantom 3500 "will redefine private aviation, providing Flexjet with a fleet that dramatically reduces costs while expanding operational capabilities and enhancing the customer flying experience."

A new standard in business aviation
The agreement extends beyond the simple purchase of aircraft. It provides that Flexjet's in-house maintenance organization, Flexjet Technical Services, can become an authorized service center for Otto Aerospace products. This ensures a fully integrated support ecosystem for the new fleet.
Kenn Ricci, Chairman of Flexjet, stated that the company "has led through innovation opposed to imitation, introducing tomorrow’s standards." Regarding the new aircraft, he noted that "the Phantom 3500 exemplifies that approach perfectly, marking a bold step into a future where an aircraft’s efficiency and sustainability stand alongside speed, comfort, and range as defining standards."
Otto Aerospace, formerly known as Otto Aviation, brings together former leaders from aerospace giants like Boeing, Textron, and Lockheed. Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, the company aims with the Phantom 3500 to create a new aviation category that combines high efficiency, reduced operating costs, and sustainability. The order was announced at the UP.Summit 2025 event, as reported by Otto Aerospace in a press release.
