The Finnish airline plans to expand its network in anticipation of the reopening of borders around the world, thus recovering its main market, the hub in Helsinki, the capital of the Nordic country.

The route to Dallas will open on February 7, 2022, and will be served with four weekly flights. Busan will have its inaugural flight in March and will have three weekly flights, while Sapporo will start during the summer season and will have two weekly flights.

In addition to Tokyo becoming a regular destination, Haneda airport will receive Finnair for the first time, when previously it also operated at the Narita air terminal. The Japanese capital will thus welcome the Finnish airline at both airports.

«We are looking forward to the continued reopening of the global airline business. Before the pandemic, Japan was our largest market outside our home base, Finland; and we look forward to returning to our five destinations in Japan. We are also opening a new route to Busan in South Korea, demonstrating our continued commitment to offer the best and most sustainable connections between Europe and Asia through our Helsinki hub». said Ole Orvér, CCO of Finnair.

«We are also excited to strengthen our U.S. network by adding Dallas as a new destination. Our customers will be able to enjoy excellent connections to other North American cities through the extensive network of our alliance partner, American Airlines,» he added.

Over the next few days Orvér promises to announce more routes within the framework of the northern summer season. By that time the company has already defined to fly to ten domestic destinations, to 60 cities in Europe, 13 in Asia and the Middle East, and four in the United States: Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.
