EVA Air board of directors authorized the purchase of an additional Boeing 777F that is planned for delivery by the end of 2023. The Evergreen Group airline currently has a fleet of eight 777 freighters, which were sourced from a 787-10 Dreamliner order change, with these new aircraft replacing the Boeing 747-400F, bringing an end to the company’s four-engine era.

To strengthen EVA Air Cargo’s capacity, the company by 2025 will convert three Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft to cargo aircraft through Israel Aerospace Industry Corporation (IAI), thereby increasing the subsidiary’s fleet to 12 units.

«We continually assess the needs of the passenger and cargo market so that we can adequately increase capacity, meet demand and enhance our risk management capabilities. We also regularly review our fleet composition and develop strategies that will better equip us to secure a competitive advantage in these markets. «, said Clay Sun, President of EVA.

«Boeing estimates that the air cargo market will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 4.0 to 4.6 percent over the next 20 years. By 2040, Boeing forecasts that worldwide cargo demand will increase by more than 70 percent. To accommodate this expected air cargo market expansion, our own long-term network planning and commercial demands, we continue to search for the best next-generation freighter,» Sun continued.

The Boeing 777F is an aircraft that has a maximum capacity of 105 tons of cargo and can fly non-stop fully loaded up to 5,000 nautical miles, an ideal replacement for older generation freighters such as the four-engine Boeing 747.

EVA Air’s entire 777 fleet is powered by the same engine models. Boeing 777-300ER crews can easily transition to flying freighter aircraft after receiving the necessary training on model differences and operations.

EVA Air currently has a fleet of 8 Boeing 777Fs and 34 Boeing 777-300ERs which allows operational flexibility for crew dispatch and enhances maintenance management.
