Eurowings and Volotea join forces to strengthen their networks

This way, Eurowings will add a commercial partner with a strong presence in medium-sized cities in Southern Europe and strengthen its regional focus. The Düsseldorf-based company will thus increase its presence outside its core markets, especially outside Germany.

In addition, the agreement marks Volotea’s official entry into the German market with scheduled flights. From the end of May, the company will gradually launch flights between Bordeaux (BOD), Düsseldorf (DUS), Hamburg (HAM) and Stuttgart (STR). It will also operate from Lyon (LYS) to Berlin (BER) and Hamburg (HAM), as well as between Nantes (NTE) and Stuttgart (STR).

Volotea will also offer new connections between Italy and Germany. From 26 May it will operate two flights a week between Verona (VRN) and Berlin (BER), while from October it will offer two weely flights between Florence (FLR) and Hamburg (HAM).

According to Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings, the partnership means a «significantly larger range» of air connections within the continent. «From now on, our customers will benefit from a much wider range of affordable direct flights within Europe», he remarked.

«We are thrilled to make our partnership with Eurowings official and expand our reach to the German market, an important step in our larger growth plans in Europe», said Carlos Muñoz, founder and CEO of Volotea. «This agreement represents an exciting opportunity for Volotea to offer even more customers affordable, non-stop flights to explore new destinations across our extensive network», he added.
