Etihad to operate flights to Copenhagen and Düsseldorf from October

Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, announced today that it will begin operating flights from its main hub, Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), to Copenhagen (CPH) and Düsseldorf (DUS) from 1 October.

Four weekly services will initially be available between Abu Dhabi and Copenhagen, the airline said in a press release. The Danish capital will thus join Etihad’s European network for the first time. It will also offer three weekly connections between the capital city of the United Arab Emirates and the western German city.

Etihad’s network expansion in Europe

According to the airline, both routes will be served by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. While the airline did not specify which of the two variants in its fleet will operate the services, it did say that they will be aircraft with a 28-seat configuration in Business Class and 262 seats in Economy Class. As such, 787-9 aircraft are expected to be scheduled.

The airline has operated flights between Abu Dhabi and Düsseldorf in the past, a route it first inaugurated in December 2011. With its return, the city will become the third destination of its network in Germany. Etihad currently operates daily between Abu Dhabi (AUH), Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUC).
