Emirates to have three A380 daily flights to Sydney and plans to return to Adelaide

Emirates is strengthening its Australian operations with the addition of a third daily service to Sydney on Airbus A380s from November 4, 2023. With this upgrade, the Gulf carrier will provide nearly 2,000 additional weekly seats.
Emirates’ service will be operated with the A380 in the traditional three-class configuration with a capacity of 489 seats, replacing the Boeing 777-300ERs currently used on EK 416 and 417. The airline will increase its offering to more than 260 additional daily seats and provide greater opportunities for travelers to access popular destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Third daily flight schedule operated on A380s
- Dubai – Sydney Flight EK 416 DXB 21:30 – SYD 18:20
- Sydney – Dubai Flight EK 417 SYD 21:10 – DXB 04:30+1
The third A380 daily flight will complement the two other services to Sydney operated by the four-class A380, which provides Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin.
Emirates currently operates 63 weekly flights to Australia, providing around 56,000 seats to and from major Australian cities. Melbourne and Sydney have three daily flights, Brisbane has two daily flights and it also flies daily to Perth on A380s. The Gulf carrier has also reactivated services from Melbourne to Singapore, as well as connecting Sydney to Christchurch offering an A380 experience in the Trans-Tasman market.
Emirates continues to expand its A380 operations around the world as passenger demand grows. The Gulf carrier currently flies its A380 to more than 50 destinations and plans for more cities to welcome the superjumbo in the coming months.
Return to Adelaide
By summer 2024, Emirates expects to add Airbus A350-900s, the first new widebody aircraft type to be introduced to the fleet since 2008. With the A350, the airline expects to expand its global footprint to new destinations and serve cities such as Adelaide. The Gulf carrier is in negotiations with Adelaide Airport to resume non-stop services suspended since March 2020, as part of its commitment to increase global connectivity in Australia.
