The aircraft previously belonged to All Nippon Airways ANA, which was delivered to the Japanese carrier on October 19, 2006, has a 4-class 250-seat configuration, the Boeing 777-300ER (JA777A) was placed into storage in April 2021 at Mojave Airport.

Then on February 3, Eastern Airlines acquired the aircraft, but it still remains parked in California.

The Miami-based airline’s fleet expansion plans are focused on the Boeing 777. Eastern Airlines in September 2021 announced the acquisition of 35 B777 aircraft to convert them to freighters under its own Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). The company’s CEO, Steve Harfst, revealed to ch-aviation that the group consisted of eleven 777-200s, fifteen 777-200ERs, seven 777-300s, and two 777-300ERs.

Eastern plans to phase them in depending on demand and some aircraft will be used for charter flights, prior to conversion to freighters.

The airline currently has a fleet of one Boeing 767-200, four Boeing 767-200ERs, and six Boeing 767-300ERs, which it uses for its passenger operations. And now Eastern Airlines adds its first Boeing 777-300ER to the family.
