E175-E2 development paused at Embraer

Embraer announced that the company’s Board of Directors has approved a three-year pause in the development of the E175-E2, postponing its entry-into-service date to 2027 or 2028.
As expressed by Embraer, the rescheduling of activities is associated with «ongoing discussions between major U.S. airlines and pilot unions regarding the maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of aircraft with up to 76 seats, as well as global market conditions and interest in the E175-E2.»
The E175E2 is considered the natural successor to the first-generation E175, but its performance puts it above what the Scope Clause for regional aircraft allows.
