The last flight between New York/JFK and Bogotá will be on October 26th. The company had been operating a daily frequency with Boeing 757 aircraft, which have a capacity of 199 passengers.

However, Delta emphasized that their two daily flights between Bogotá and Atlanta (also operated with Boeing 757) will remain unchanged, in addition to the three weekly flights between Atlanta and Cartagena.

The company also offers flights from Bogotá to the United States through its partner LATAM Airlines, which operates two daily flights to Miami and one daily flight to Orlando.

Flights between Bogotá and New York

The exit of Delta Air Lines from the Bogotá to New York/JFK market is not surprising when considering the strong competition it faces from Avianca with its 21 weekly flights (14 with A320 and 7 with 787-8), the need to better utilize its fleet, and the consolidation of its traffic through its main hub in Atlanta.

United Airlines also connects the two cities, but operates from Newark with seven weekly flights using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Avianca is responsible for 41.5% of the seat capacity between the United States and Colombia, followed by American Airlines with 21%, Spirit Airlines with 13.8%, United Airlines with 6.4%, and in fifth place, Delta Air Lines with 5.6%. The list is completed by LATAM (4.9%), Emirates (3.5%), and JetBlue (3.3%).
