    On December 14 Viva Aerobus inaugurated its first international operation at Felipe Angeles International Airport (NLU) with a service to Havana (HAV). With this new route, the low-cost company connects the Cuban capital with five airports in Mexico.

    Flight VB 9231 was operated in an Airbus A320neo registered with the license plate XA-VIS, which took off from Felipe Angeles International Airport (NLU) at 09:08 local time and landed at José Martí International Airport (HAV) at 12:20, after two hours and 12 minutes.

    According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), Cuba is the main Caribbean market in Mexico between January – October 2022 mobilized 142,336 passengers with an occupancy factor of 47.91% in 1,510 flights. Currently, Viva Aerobus is the main air operator in this market with a 97.4% share.

    The low-cost airline is the first Mexican airline to offer international services at Felipe Angeles Airport (NLU).

    • Mexico City/Saint Lucia – Havana Flight VB 9231 NLU 08:55 – HAV 12:25 daily flights.
    • Mexico City/Saint Lucia – Havana Flight VB 9232 HAV 14:05 – NLU 16:15 daily flights.

    With the Mexican low-cost airline’s new service, Felipe Angeles International Airport (NLU) will be connected to four international destinations including: Panama – Tocumen (PTY), Santo Domingo (SDQ), Caracas (CCS) and Havana (HAV).

    According to data compiled by the AFAC, between January and October of this year Viva Aerobus has mobilized 1,545,854 international passengers and 442.8 tons of international cargo on 12,131 flights. The low cost airline is the third largest Mexican airline in foreign operations.

    The low cost airline offers 12,072 weekly seats between the Aztec country and the Caribbean nation in 62 operations through four Cuban and five Mexican destinations.

    • Cancun (CUN): daily flights.
    • Mexico City (MEX): daily flights.
    • Mexico City/Santa Lucia (NLU): daily flights.
    • Merida (MID): twice weekly flights.
    • Monterrey (MTY): two weekly flights.
    Camagüey (CMW)
    • Cancun (CUN): two weekly flights.
    • Merida (MID): one flight a week.
    Holguín (HOG)
    • Cancun (CUN): two weekly flights.
    Santa Clara (SNU)
    • Cancun (CUN): one flight a week.
